2011 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Syndey Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,400 times in 2011. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Happy 2nd anniversary, Thought Box!

Today, May 30, marks the second anniversary of this blog. I wouldn’t have known and the day would have passed by just normally, but thanks to Google Calendar, the fact that it was already my blog’s 2nd anniversary gave me quite a shock!

I started writing here two years ago, and now this blog has accumulated:

  • 176 posts
  • 22 categories
  • 586 tags, which I desperately need to clean up
  • 313 comments, and best of all, no spam, thanks to Akismet!

Sexy Stats (via WordPress.com News)

Yes! This is what I’ve been waiting for!

Sexy Stats You may have noticed a change to your stat charts a couple of weeks ago. We ditched Flash in place of a more robust charting library called Flot. If you didn't notice, go check it out because you can view all of the new charts with modern browsers including mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad. Sooo sexy! Today we updated the charts to use bars instead of points and lines. We've also made the stats page super sexy. Each module can be opened and … Read More

WordPress: Unblocked.

WordPress has just been unblocked at the place that I work.

One small step for me, one giant step for net neutrality.

Thank you WordPress!

That’s the newly redesigned WordPress bar (I’m not sure what it’s called.) It looks a lot prettier and gives the user more control over all of his blogs. Now you can write a new blog post on one blog, then jump to another blog and moderate comments on it. Awesome functionality!

And one more cool thing: it floats on top so you don’t have to

I love it! Thank you WordPress :)

Reblogs now a feature in WordPress!

As you may have noticed, from time to time I reblog posts from other websites. What’s great now is that WordPress now knows that “we all like to reblog.” Therefore, they’ve added a “like” button.

Congrats WordPress. One small step for you and one giant advancement for the rest of us :)

We All Like to Reblog Have you ever come across a blog post that you enjoyed so much you wanted to easily share it with the readers of your own blog? Sure, you can copy and paste the link and perhaps even a snippet of text with your own comments, but overall it's not a particularly enjoyable experience. We wanted to change this and make sharing other posts with your readers as easy as posting to your blog. Today we're introducing a new like and reblog feature enabled … Read More

Something new!

I was browsing through my WordPress administration pages yesterday and this is what I found:

Looks like more blog statistics, but this time, it’s spam comments!

I’m glad I found this. I’ve always hated spam and kept track of it here. Now I can check my blog’s spam history (which really sucks) among other things such as comments that are inadvertently marked as spam or comments that were spam but were not marked as spam.

Overall, I think Akismet has been doing a wonderful job of keeping up with those nasty spammers. Now, they give me a nice dashboard where I can track all this. Thank you again, Akismet!

Thank you WordPress Theme Team!

2010 Theme

In a very short amount of time the WordPress Theme Team has provided WordPress.com users with a plethora of new themes. It seems like new themes are coming out every week! As I preview these themes, they seem so much newer and fresher than the old ones. I have still yet to find one that matches this blog perfectly.

In the meantime, here’s some of the new themes that have been released:

These are all fantastic themes. Thank you WordPress Theme Team!
