How do I decide when a post is ready to publish?

Given the enormously little amount of time I have to write to my blog these days, this is no longer something I’m concerned about. At this point, I just want to get my ideas out there, almost like a stream of consciousness.

In the past, I would write out my ideas in paragraph form, save it, go to sleep, revise it the next day, and publish it. If I think the post is going to be something that a mass audience will read, I will revise it several times and add pictures, etc. to it before it gets published.

Furthermore, I’m not looking for a career in writing or journalism, I just enjoy doing it as a hobby.

What is a friend?

I have been asked this question many many times. Ironically, I’ve never known the answer, but I’ve thought so much about this.

Does a friend have to stay with you forever? If so, how long? And what distinguishes between a “best friend”, “friend”, “acquaintance”, “random person”, and “enemy”?

One of my life’s toughest questions

Question_globeDo you believe everything happens for a reason? Why or why not?

When I look at this question, and the word “reason,” I think that the thing that happens had an intended purpose. From my point of view, I would definitely say everything happens for a reason. After all, I am a Christian, and I believe that God makes everything, from the little interactions between particles to the big news stories, happen for a reason.

On the other hand, if I were arguing from a global point of view, the answer would be more complex. First off, I would immediately say that the unimportant things don’t happen for a reason; for example, tying your left shoe before your right. Does this really affect the rest of your life? The obvious answer would be no… or does it? Read the rest of this entry

Note to self: Think fast!

I’ve come to the conclusion that the reason I haven’t been blogging so much is because of my tendency to think things through. Normally, this is a good quality and most people appreciate it. However, it’s also the reason why I haven’t posted anything in 2 weeks. It takes me time to think through what I write, and I always put quality over quantity.

So I’ve been thinking, if I want to blog more, I should probably go for the quantity first. I know this is totally against my nature, but I’ll try it out.

Let’s see what happens.

First post of the New Year!

The Sydney Opera House in Sydney Australia

Well, I’ve officially signed up for postaweek 2011, so here’s the first topic!

List three countries places you’d like to visit, and why you want to go.

I don’t travel a lot, but I LOVE it every time I get to go far away from home. Here’s my top three countries I’d like to visit in the near future (not in any particular order) Read the rest of this entry

New Years’ Resolution: Post more to my blog.

“There is a saying among writers: to write more, write more. The hardest part of blogging isn’t the tools – it’s what goes on between your ears. Many people start blogs with excitement, but lose courage when facing the blank post page, or chicken out before hitting publish. Here at WordPress.com, we know. And we’re here to help” (Source: WordPress.com News).

First of all, Thank You WordPress for doing me a great service. Second of all, I totally agree. This blog has been on the back burner and has been stagnating for over a month now. It seems that I’ve been drained of all my thoughtfulness. If this continues, “Thought Box” will just become “___ Box.”

Hopefully, in 2011, things will improve. And they’re looking good already.

Have a great New Year’s,
